Blew $340 on a used dovetail jig at an estate sale in Fresno, and the fence is warped
Saw a Porter Cable dovetail jig in a toolbox at an estate sale in Fresno three weeks ago and the guy wanted $340 for it with a bunch of bits thrown in. I got excited and paid him cash without checking the fence against a square, which was dumb because the whole point of the jig is the fence. Got it home, set it up on some scrap walnut, and every pin came out about 1/16" off because the fence has a twist in it that I can't shim out. New fence from the maker is $180 plus shipping, so now I'm into this thing for over $500 and still cutting dovetails by hand. Anyone got a good way to true up a warped aluminum fence, or should I just eat it and go back to my marking gauge?
