My bandsaw blade let go mid cut on a 40 lb ribeye primal and I just stood there like an idiot
Happened Tuesday morning right as the shop opened, blade snapped and slapped the guard so loud a customer dropped her purse. Anyone got a brand of blade that actually holds up on bone in cuts, or am I just pushing too hard?
Man, I feel that in my soul. Had the same thing happen last year on a big pork shoulder, blade popped and I just froze with my hand still pushing. What fixed it for me was switching to a coarse tooth blade made for meat and bone, I think it was a 3 TPI skip tooth, and slowing my feed way down. Turns out I was forcing it more than I realized, and once I let the blade do the work the snap thing stopped. Your mileage may vary since every saw and cut is a little different, but a fresh sharp blade and less push made a world of difference for me.
