Can we talk about how cutting off my mom at 24 was the right call, even if everyone said forgive her?
Everyone pushes you to forgive family no matter what, but when my mom stole $3,200 from my savings in 2019 to fund her boyfriend's gambling, I picked my sanity over her. I moved to Tucson, changed my number, and skipped every holiday for 3 years. My aunt still calls me cold for it, but my rent gets paid and nobody raids my account now. Has anyone else cut off a parent and actually felt better, not guilty?
Three years no holidays is rough but I get why you did it. One thing though, forgiving her and letting her back into your life are two different things, you can do the first without ever doing the second. Sounds like you already made peace with it either way.
