Why does nobody talk about using a separate savings account for irregular bills

I got tired of my budget getting blown up every time a quarterly water bill or car insurance payment came due. So I opened a second account and started putting $50 a month into it for those surprise expenses. It's been 6 months now and I haven't had to scramble once. Has anyone else tried this split account method?

Isnt it funny how the smallest systems end up fixing the biggest headaches in life?

@wood.faith Simple systems clear the noise so the good stuff can work.

I get what you're saying, but I'm not sure it's that deep. My calendar app is pretty basic and it still manages to mess up my schedule sometimes. People act like a simple system will magically fix everything, but life is messy and no amount of organizing is going to change that. I've tried the whole "simplify your life" thing a few times and it usually just adds more work on the front end. Plus, what's simple for one person is a headache for another - my husband loves his bullet journal and I can't even make sense of it. At the end of the day, the real headache is probably just having too much stuff to keep track of, not the system itself.
