Warning: The new food court at the Galleria mall is a budget trap

I went there yesterday to grab a quick lunch and the prices were insane. A basic burger combo was $18 and a small soda alone cost $4.75. I ended up walking out and just getting a sandwich from the grocery store across the street for under $7. How are places charging that much and expecting people to come back? Anyone else find a spot that used to be cheap but now costs way too much?

I read that they're calling it "luxury convenience" to justify the crazy prices.

My friend got a "luxury convenience" salad delivered last week, @charlescraig. It was just lettuce and chicken in a cardboard box for twenty-two bucks. The "luxury" part was a single packet of fancy salt they didn't even ask for.

Remember when "luxury" meant something real, @charlescraig? Now it's just a word they slap on basic stuff to charge more. Saw a "luxury" bottled water that was just tap water in a fancy glass. Or "luxury" socks that fell apart after two washes. That salad is the perfect example. Calling a salt packet "luxury" doesn't make the food fancy, it just makes the price a joke.
