My $7 spreadsheet template replaced my $80 budgeting app

I was paying for a fancy app for 6 months and still overspending every week. Finally copied a simple Google Sheets layout from a YouTube video, tracked my coffee and takeout for 2 weeks, and realized I was dropping $140 a month on stuff I didn't even enjoy. Anyone else found that plain old notes or free tools work better than paid ones?
