Found out my grocery store's unit price labels are wrong on purpose
I was at a Kroger in Columbus last month and noticed the unit price tag on cereal said 14 cents per ounce but the math on the box came out to 22 cents. I started checking other aisles and found 9 out of 30 tags were off, always in the store's favor. Now I bring a calculator and check everything over $4. Has anyone else caught this at their store or is it just mine?
My buddy ran into the same thing at a Publix down in Florida last year. He grabbed a thing of almonds and the tag said a dollar something per pound but when he did the math it was like a dollar eighty. He told the manager and the guy just shrugged and said the tags get printed by a company and they can't fix them all the time. That answer is total garbage. If it was a mistake in their favor they'd be all over fixing it, but when it costs us more they suddenly can't do a thing. It is not just your store. Keep that calculator, man, you're doing it right.
