The church potluck that made me see beans differently
Went to a potluck last Sunday and this older lady brought this massive pot of beans and rice. I almost skipped it because, you know, beans are beans. But she told me she feeds her family of 5 for like $12 a week with that recipe. She showed me she adds a ham hock, some onion, and a bay leaf. Cooks it low all day. I tried it and honestly it was way better than the stuff I usually throw together. I been doing the same thing at home with whatever leftover meat I have and it stretches so far. My kids actually ask for it now. Has anyone else got a cheap bean recipe that doesn't taste like poverty? I need more ideas like this.
