The $3 bag of lentils that outlasted my whole meal plan last week

Last Tuesday I was staring at an empty fridge and a paycheck that was 4 days out. I had like $11 total. Picked up a bag of brown lentils from the corner store for $3 and figured I'd make soup or something. Ended up making 3 different meals from that one bag. Lentil tacos one night, lentil curry the next, then mixed the last cup into a pot of rice with some frozen veggies. I was full all week and still had leftovers. I've been sleeping on lentils my whole life cause I thought they were bland. Turns out they soak up whatever spices you toss in. Anyone else got a cheap staple that just keeps giving? I need more ideas like this.
