Stop buying those $20 spice kits, just build a spice rack slowly

I keep seeing people in here posting their fancy monthly spice subscription boxes or those pre-made taco seasoning packs that cost like $4 each. I used to do that too until I figured out that buying bulk spices at my local Mexican grocery store in Charlotte saved me about $8 a week. I just buy one new jar every time I go shopping, maybe $2 max each, and now I have a full rack after 4 months. The flavor is way better too because you never know how long those little kits sat on a shelf. Has anyone else tried the bulk bin route at an ethnic market and notice their dishes taste fresher?
