Rant: my aunt told me beans are poor people food at Thanksgiving

She said it right after I brought my $8 slow cooker pot of black beans and rice to the family dinner in Tulsa last month, and everyone went quiet. That pot fed 10 people for two days while her $60 honey baked ham was gone in 20 minutes. Why do folks act like stretching a dollar with beans is embarrassing when the real flex is feeding your whole crew without blowing the budget?

That $8 pot feeding 10 people is the real flex, and your aunt missed the point entirely.

Gotta love how people always judge value by the sticker price instead of the actual result. Same thing with my neighbors who brag about their fancy groceries but throw half of it out, while my grandma's basic stew feeds the whole block twice. Weird how we've flipped what "cheap" means to be a bad thing instead of just smart.
