My instant pot lid cracked mid-stew, dinner saved by a Dutch oven

Last Tuesday in Tulsa, the glass lid on my 8-quart Instant Pot shattered while making a lentil stew, and I had to transfer everything to my old 5-quart Dutch oven for the last 40 minutes on the stove. The stew came out fine, but now I'm wondering if I should just buy a replacement lid or retire the pot entirely. Has anyone else switched mid-cook like that, and did your meal actually survive?

Man, that's a wild save! I had almost the exact same thing happen with my old pressure cooker lid, except it was the whole handle that snapped off right when I had a pot of chili going. I panicked and dumped everything into a cast iron Dutch oven too, and honestly it came out better than it usually does. The slower simmer on the stove gave the flavors more time to blend, so I wasn't even mad about the extra cleanup. If the base of your Instant Pot is still working fine, I'd say just grab a new lid. Replacing the whole unit seems like a waste when the only broken part is the glass. But I'll admit, I use the Dutch oven a lot more now for stews just because it's less fuss. Your dinner surviving is the real win here, cracked lid or not.
