Hit $150 weekly grocery ceiling after 2 months of tracking
Everyone talks about cutting grocery costs, but I went the other way. I set a $100 weekly budget for my family of four in Austin, and after 8 straight weeks of meal planning and bulk buying, I kept landing around $145 to $155. I thought I was failing until I realized we were actually eating full dinners every night instead of grabbing fast food twice a week. That extra $50 replaced about $90 in takeout, so the math works out better than the frugal folks admit. Has anyone else found their real budget ceiling is higher than the popular number, but still cheaper in the long run?
