Twelve years in and I only just learned to butter the frog
Out on a job in Columbus last month, an old timer watched me load my trowel and shook his head. He said I was smearing mortar instead of buttering, and that my frog technique was making every brick a fight. Turns out I'd been wasting maybe 15 minutes per thousand bricks for over a decade. Anyone else get corrected on a basic move way later than they'd like to admit?

Used to think buttering was just for show, figured the frog did most of the work anyway. Old timer set me straight last year and now I feel like an idiot for all those years of fighting the mortar. Better late than never, I guess.
