Counted 1,847 bricks on a Fort Worth fireplace job and it changed how I bid
I got roped into a big outdoor fireplace build in Fort Worth back in April and figured I would just eyeball the brick order like always. My supplier suggested I actually tally the face brick before calling it in, so I sat down with the plans and counted every single unit one by one. Came out to 1,847 bricks, which was almost 200 more than my gut estimate. I ordered that exact number with 5 percent waste added and finished the job with only 11 left over. Before this I was always either running back to the yard mid-job or eating the cost on 300 extra bricks nobody needed. The crazy part is the count only took me about 40 minutes with a pencil and a coffee. Now I am wondering if you guys count face brick on every job or just the tricky ones.
