Unpopular opinion: the $8 phone stand at the register is the only impulse buy I have ever used daily

I always rolled my eyes at those little bins of junk near the checkout at places like CVS, figured it was all $8 garbage that breaks in a week. Back in March I grabbed a foldable phone stand on a whim because my neck hurt from staring down at my desk all day. It has held up for 5 months now, no wobble, no cracked hinge, and I use it every single day for video calls and watching stuff while I eat. Meanwhile the $60 stand I bought off a website 2 years ago snapped in 3 weeks and I never bothered to return it. I told my buddy at work and he said his is from a gas station in Tulsa and has lasted 4 years. So what is the best cheap thing you grabbed at a register that ended up outlasting the fancy version?
