That sidewalk drain in Charleston flipped my storm take

I was in Charleston during a flash flood last month and watched water vanish through a grate while homes two streets over had 3 feet of standing water. Turns out the city's drainage system was sized for the 1950s, and the new storm patterns just laugh at it. Is there any point pushing for better infrastructure when the climate targets already feel outdated?

My neighborhood added bigger pipes after Katrina. Took 6 years but it worked.

Kept our old pipes but added a backup pump system after Sandy, took 4 years and zero floods since.
