Was cleaning a house and saw two identical peace lilies, one watered weekly, one when dry. Both looked healthy. So, strict schedule or go by feel for watering? What do you guys do?

Guess my plants thrive on neglect since I always forget water day. They probably just adapt to my chaotic care. Is there a right way if both lilies looked happy?

Wait, did the owner say how long they've been on those schedules? Peace lilies are dramatic, they'll look fine until they suddenly don't. Letting them get bone dry stresses them out every time, even if they bounce back. I check the soil every few days and water when the top inch feels dry, no strict day.

Tyler's totally right about the stress building up over time. Even if stone.brooke's plants seem fine with forgetful watering, the roots are probably getting weaker each dry cycle, which shows up later as fewer flowers or slower growth. Peace lilies are good at faking it until one day they just can't bounce back anymore.

Honestly, the idea that a plant is just "faking it" until it dies feels a bit off. Plants don't have feelings to get stressed like that. If both looked healthy, the one getting watered when dry was clearly getting what it needed, just on a different timing. It's not neglect if the soil moisture was checked. The real trick is just paying attention to the plant and the pot weight, not sticking to a calendar or waiting for a dramatic wilt.
