Tried bottom watering my pothos for 6 weeks and half the roots rotted, so who's right here?
I keep reading that bottom watering is the safest way to avoid fungus gnats, so back in April I put my three biggest pothos on that plan in my apartment in Tucson. Six weeks in, two of them started dropping yellow leaves and when I pulled one out the lower half of the root ball was still bone dry while the bottom inch was soaked and mushy. So now I'm stuck between the bottom water crowd saying I just didn't wait long enough and the top water crowd saying the salts never flush out that way. What actually worked for you, and did you check the roots or just go by the leaves?
