My neighbor told me my pothos was drowning and she was right
My pothos had been dropping leaves for about 2 months and I just kept watering it every Sunday like always. My neighbor Karen, who has like 40 plants in her sunroom, looked at it and said the soil was staying wet too long and the roots were probably rotting. I stuck my finger down in the pot and it was straight up swampy 3 inches down, so I switched to watering only when the top 2 inches felt dry and moved it out of the direct window. Three weeks later it pushed out 4 new leaves. Has anyone else had a plant they were basically loving to death?
Learned this the hard way with a fiddle leaf fig that I killed in like 4 months. I was watering it every week on a schedule too, and the pot had no drainage holes which made it way worse. Now I always stick my finger in the soil first and only water if it feels dry, plus I put a layer of rocks at the bottom of every pot I own. Your neighbor sounds like a plant whisperer, hold onto her.
