That week I ruined three bookcloth pieces in a row
I was working on a leather-bound journal order last Tuesday and everything went sideways. First I glued the bookcloth to the wrong side of the board, then I tried to fix it and ripped the cloth. The next day I measured wrong and cut a piece too short by about half an inch. Then on Thursday I spilled coffee on a nearly finished cover and had to start over from scratch. It was one of those weeks where I should have just stepped away from the workbench. Has anyone else had a string of bad luck like that where you just keep making simple mistakes?

@oliverhernandez totally get what you mean about hands not cooperating. What helped me was just walking away for even five minutes to reset. Came back and got it perfect on the first try. Sometimes the brain just needs a breather.

Man that string of ruined bookcloth hits close to home. I had a similar week where I ruined three pieces of handmade marbled paper in a row, one because I grabbed the wrong brush and the colors all bled together. It's so frustrating when you know exactly what you're doing wrong but your hands just won't cooperate that day. Sometimes you gotta just close up shop and go for a walk before you waste more materials.

Are you ever just having one of those weeks where even your coffee maker seems to be out to get you? Tbh, I feel this so hard - not with paper, but with this vintage sewing machine I've been trying to fix up. Three days straight of messing with the tension, and every single time I'd get the thread just right, then sneeze and knock the whole bobbin case off the table, losing the spring somewhere in the carpet. Ngl, I finally just threw a towel over the whole thing and went to watch dumb videos on my phone for an hour. Sometimes you gotta admit your hands and brain are on different pages and just give up for the day before you break something expensive.
