My barber said he skips the last chapter of any book before his club meets

He argued it keeps him from forming a final opinion too early, so he listens more during the debate. I tried it with 'Project Hail Mary' and found myself way more open to other people's takes on the ending. Does anyone else use a trick like this to prep for discussions?

Wait, that's actually genius? Might have to try that for my next book club.

Seriously, it ruins the whole thing. If you just read the last chapter of a mystery, you know who did it. The fun is in getting there, the slow build. It's like skipping to the end of a movie. You miss all the character growth and the little details that make the story matter.

Sounds like a great way to spoil the whole point of reading a book, @emma_flores.
