Serious question, an old hand on a job in Gary told me to stop torquing by feel and I'm still chewing on it
He watched me snug up a manway cover, walked over, and said "your arm doesn't know what the spec sheet knows." I've been running wrenches 19 years. Thought he was being a jerk. But we pulled out the torque wrench and I was off by 40 ft-lbs on two studs. New guy on our crew just got one of those digital wrenches that logs every bolt. I keep going back and forth on whether this stuff makes us sharper or just gives us a crutch. What's the crew here running, click type or digital, and do you trust the guy swinging a beater bar over the guy reading a screen?
