Overheard a guy say flux-core is always better than stick welding on site
I was at a job up in Gary last Tuesday and this younger welder was telling his buddy that flux-core outshines stick for all field repairs. I've been running 7018 rods for 15 years on boiler tubes and have never had a failure that wasn't my own dumb mistake. Anyone else think stick still has a place when the wind kicks up or you're working in tight spots?

Stick doesn't care if your glove's half soaked in rainwater.

Woah wait, half soaked? That's way more than a little damp. Are we talking like the glove is basically a sponge at that point? I can't imagine trying to work with half your hand in a puddle inside your glove, that sounds miserable. Harper's right, Stick probably doesn't care one bit.

Have you tried stuffing a paper towel in there?
