The 3-player game night rule I swore by for 5 years finally broke me
I used to refuse to play any game with more than 3 players, said social deduction was pointless with a big group. That ended last month at a friend's cabin near Lake Tahoe when 7 of us pulled out a copy of a hidden traitor game I'd always skipped. Watching the table argue, lie, and read each other for 2 hours was way more electric than my usual tight strategy circles. Now I run the same game with 6 or 7 every Friday and I honestly can't go back. What made you finally give a bigger player count a real shot?

Read a blog post a while back about how big groups change the whole feel of social deduction games, more noise and more chaos means people hide easier but also slip up in louder ways. That stuck with me because I always thought smaller meant tighter and smarter... but honestly watching 7 people argue over nothing is way more fun to me now. My own group tried a 7 player werewolf thing last Halloween and it was a mess in the best way, people started trusting complete strangers at the table just because they laughed at their jokes. Bigger crowds make the game less about perfect logic and more about gut reads and wild energy, which I never gave credit to before. Now I secretly hope my Friday group grows even bigger, just to see what breaks first.
