Pro tip: storing your games vertically instead of flat can wreck the boxes
I saw a guy at a convention in Portland last month stacking all his board games like books on a shelf. Looked clean and organized. But then he pulled out a copy of Terraforming Mars and the insert was totally busted and pieces fell everywhere. I tried vertical storage for about 3 months and had similar problems. Boxes sag, inserts shift, and those little cardboard dividers never hold up. Maybe it works for some games with tight inserts but the majority of my collection was worse off. What do you all do for storage that actually keeps things together?

Wait that happened to someone else too? @lindag33 I saw a guy at a con in Portland last month pull out his Terraforming Mars from a vertical stack and the insert was completely busted, pieces fell everywhere. He was so embarrassed but honestly the design of that box is terrible for standing up. I tried vertical storage for like 3 months and the boxes sagged and the cardboard dividers kept shifting all over the place. Maybe it works for some tight inserts but for most games its a disaster waiting to happen. I just keep everything flat now and stack by size, its boring but nothing gets wrecked.

Damn, Terraforming Mars with the busted insert? That's brutal. Never seen a game get wrecked that bad just from standing it up.
