The tong maker in Ohio who corrected my grip after one glance
I stopped by his shop outside Toledo last spring and he handed me his own pair of tongs, told me to grab a bar of hot steel, then pointed out I was choking up too high on the reins, so I loosened my hold and suddenly the twist work felt twice as smooth, has anyone else had an old timer spot a simple habit like that?

Grip placement is one of those things nobody tells you until somebody actually watches you work. Took me years to stop strangling the reins, and yeah, it changed everything once I loosened up. Sometimes it's the dumb little stuff that makes the biggest difference.
