Showerthought: I blamed my oven for 3 years and it was my $12 thermometer the whole time
My cookies kept burning on the bottom rack in my Raleigh apartment, and last month a bake shop owner told me to check my oven thermometer (the needle was stuck 40 degrees off). I felt like such a fool, but now my banana bread actually comes out right, so who else has a kitchen tool that quietly sabotaged them for way too long?

My meat thermometer was off 20 degrees for a whole summer of dry chicken.
