My uncle's 2003 comment about my job search still stings
At Thanksgiving nine years ago, my uncle asked what I did for work and I told him I was between gigs. He snorted and said, 'So you're just floating around hoping something lands in your lap?' I laughed it off then, but I still replay that moment whenever I update my resume. The bitter truth is that he wasn't wrong, I had zero plan and just sent out random applications. It took me another two years and 47 rejections before I finally picked a field and stuck with it. Why do relatives get a free pass to point out your biggest weakness like it's casual conversation? Has anyone else had a family member nail your exact flaw in one throwaway line?
