Overheard my neighbor say she only watches shows from the 90s now
My neighbor Karen (different Karen) told me last week she gave up on new shows entirely. Said everything feels like a 10 hour movie instead of letting you breathe. Got me thinking about how different binge watching is now. Remember when shows had 22 episodes a season and you could actually sit with a story for months? Anyone else feel like streaming shows rush through plots too fast these days?

Take it from someone who spends a lot of time on the road, 22 episode seasons gave you time to really get to know the characters and their world. Now you blink and a whole eight episode season is over before you even settle in. Feels like they rush right to the big ending without letting you live in the story for a while.

You're totally right that shorter seasons feel rushed, @linda_dixon49, but I think the shift to 8-10 episodes actually started because streaming services wanted to compete with cable (not reality TV or network stuff).

You know what, I used to push back on that idea hard @the_taylor, but you're totally right. The streaming model really did change everything for better or worse. I guess I just wanted to blame reality TV lol.
