I finally got a shop to switch from grease to anti-seize on pedal threads, but the other mechanic is mad
Last month at the shop in Springfield, we had a customer bring in a carbon frame with the left pedal seized in the crank. It was a total nightmare, took us over an hour with heat and the big wrench. I argued we should start using copper anti-seize on all alloy pedals going into carbon cranks, since the galvanic corrosion risk is real. My boss agreed and we made the switch. Now the other senior mechanic, who's been here 15 years, says it's a waste of time and that grease has 'never failed him'. He thinks the extra step slows down our tune-up process. I say preventing one seized pedal saves more time than we lose. Has anyone else had this fight in their shop?

Totally get it. We had the same fight last year. I watched a guy snap a crank arm trying to get a pedal out that was just greased. Boss made us switch to anti-seize on all carbon and alloy stuff after that. The old timers grumbled for a week but they came around after it saved our butts on a really expensive repair.

Heard the same thing from a mechanic, @max_torres44, that anti-seize is a must for aluminum parts.

Grease works fine if you torque it right.
