The week my boss called me a rockstar and I still felt like a fraud
Last Tuesday I got a surprise $500 bonus and a shoutout at the all-hands meeting in front of 40 people, and I smiled and said thanks while my brain kept saying they mixed me up with someone else. The good stuff felt fake and the bad stuff (like messing up a simple report on Thursday) felt like proof I don't belong, and I wonder if anyone else has this backwards thing where success makes the mask heavier. Is it better to just tell people you feel like a fraud when you get praise, or keep nodding along so you don't look weird?
