The cashier at the corner store changed how I see my dad

Last Tuesday I stopped by the 7-Eleven on 5th and Main for coffee, and this older guy named Ray was working the register. We got to chatting about the storm we had, and he asked if my dad taught me how to change a tire. I said no, and he just nodded and said, 'Mine didn't either, but I watched him do it twice and figured the rest out on my own.' That hit me weird because I always assumed everyone's dad showed them stuff, but Ray made me realize I'd been holding a grudge for nothing. Has anyone else had a stranger casually reset their whole outlook on a family thing?
