My office chair broke at 3pm and I missed the whole deadline

Last Tuesday I was finishing a spreadsheet for a client near Portland and the gas cylinder on my chair just gave out. Dropped me a good 6 inches with a loud hiss and I spent the next 45 minutes trying to prop it up with books. Has anyone else had a piece of furniture fail at the worst possible time?

That thing about crashing mid-sentence with Jason is exactly what I was picturing when you said Zoom calls are brutal for timing, @amy_anderson. The worst part is you can't even laugh it off because everyone's staring at your frozen face for like 10 seconds before the audio catches up. I had a similar thing happen with a wobbly desk leg right as I was explaining something important to my boss once, and I swear it took all my willpower not to just end the call.

Crashed to the floor mid-sentence in a Zoom call once (not my finest hour).
