Finally got my bank fee reversed after 3 months of fighting

Tbh I've been with my credit union in Austin for like 6 years now, and last month they hit me with a $35 overdraft fee on a $2 mistake. I was so annoyed because I've never had a late payment or anything. So I called them last Tuesday and the first rep just said no. Then I called again Thursday and got someone different, explained the whole thing about how their app glitched and didn't show my pending deposit. She put me on hold for 10 minutes and came back saying they'd refund it as a one-time courtesy. Honestly that small win felt huge for me, like finally someone listened. Has anyone else had luck getting fees reversed by just being polite and persistent?

You got a $35 fee on a $2 mistake? That's insane.

Hold up, is a $35 overdraft fee really worth three months of fighting over? I mean yeah it sucks, but at some point you gotta ask if the time and energy spent calling again and again is actually worth more than the fee itself. But hey, if it made your day better then more power to you I guess.

Man, that's wild they charged you $35 on a two dollar mistake. But honestly, it's the same everywhere now. Banks are basically hoping you don't notice. What really gets me though is why do they make the first person you talk to automatically say no? Like is that actually their policy or are they just trained to be jerks until you call back? I bet if you ask the second rep they'd say the first one just didn't want to deal with it. Makes you wonder how many people just pay the fee and move on without fighting it.
