Unpopular opinion: I was a snob about gas station food until a breakdown in Wyoming changed my mind
I used to turn my nose up at anything from a pump stop, thought it was all stale hot dogs and fake nacho cheese. Then my alternator died outside Cheyenne on a Tuesday afternoon, and I spent 4 hours waiting for a tow truck at a Sinclair. I tried their breakfast burrito out of pure boredom and desperation, and honestly it was better than half the diner food I've had. The eggs were fluffy, the salsa had actual kick, and it cost me $3.50. Now I'll grab a burrito or a breakfast sandwich from a decent gas station without any shame, but I still pass on the hot dogs. Anyone else have a roadside food win that made you eat your words?
