TIL dropping $80 on a cheap grow light was a total waste for my seedlings
I was trying to start tomatoes indoors back in February, so I grabbed a $80 LED panel off Amazon. It said it was full spectrum and all that, but my seedlings got all leggy and pale within two weeks. Turns out the actual output was way lower than advertised, and my plants were basically starving for light. I ended up having to buy a proper setup from a local hydroponics store for $150, which hurt but actually worked. Has anyone else gotten burned by cheap grow lights or found a decent budget brand that actually delivers?

Bought one of those cheap purple LED panels off Amazon myself and it basically just made my seedlings look like they were in a rave while they kept stretching toward the window. Took me way too long to realize the actual light output was barely enough for a houseplant, let alone tomatoes.

Full spectrum" is basically a marketing buzzword at this point. I learned the hard way that you need to look at the actual PPFD numbers instead of trusting the product title.
