Hot take: Freddy Got Fingered is a legit satire and I'll die on this hill

Everyone I know treats it like pure garbage but I rewatched it last weekend after not seeing it since high school and it clicked. The whole thing is about how stupid the system is, like the scene where he throws sausages around and people treat his nonsense as art just because they think it's a career move. It's over the top on purpose, the same way kids act when adults tell them to do something pointless. Has anyone else had a movie they hated for a decade flip for them after seeing it with older eyes?

Honestly, the sausage scene is the perfect example. It’s not random garbage, it’s him mocking how people will call anything art if a rich guy is behind it. Tbh, that movie is way more ahead of its time than people give it credit for. Watching it again, you see the main character is not supposed to be funny, he’s supposed to be sad and desperate for approval. The whole thing flips once you realize he’s not the joke, the people around him are. Ngl, I think a lot of comedies from that era were like this, we just watched them too young to catch the point. Now it feels like a documentary about how dumb fame is.
