Pro tip: skip the fancy raised beds, my $60 version outgrew the $400 one
My neighbor Dale in Tucson told me last spring to forget the cedar kits and just use two old horse troughs from the feed store, and I thought he was being cheap. So I did half and half, and by August the trough tomatoes were taller than the kit ones, which cost me about $400 at the big box store. Dale's been gardening in that same dirt for 20 years, so maybe I should listen more. Has anyone else found the cheap setup actually beating the nice one?
