I thought I was saving money by building it myself last spring in my Austin yard, but after 4 trips to the nursery and a $60 soil test that said my native dirt was basically rock, I ended up spending more on fill dirt and compost than the whole cedar frame, so now I'm wondering if anyone else got blindsided by the hidden cost of good soil or if I just did it wrong.
