Check the pole before you blame the trail. Bells loop has that section where you brace hard on rock and every bit of your weight goes through one pole at a bad angle. Most snap there. But here is what nobody talks about: the snap is usually the second thing that fails. The first is the locking mechanism. It slips a little, you don't notice, then you trust it on a big step and the lower section slides down and jams. The jam is the snap. So your pole was probably done a mile before it broke. Check the locks every hour. Twist them tight even when they feel fine. And if you run carbon, know it cracks on the inside before it blows apart.
