Shoutout to the dispatcher who actually warned me before my car got picked up in Cheyenne
Booked a transport for my Civic from Cheyenne to Sacramento last month and the first broker quoted me $850, then went silent for 9 days with zero updates. I finally got a real dispatcher on the phone who admitted the carrier had dropped my load and my car was still sitting in a lot off I-80. Cost me $310 extra to rebook same week, but at least this company sent me texts every time the driver moved. Why do so many of these brokers have great reviews and then ghost you the second they have your deposit?
That line about great reviews then getting ghosted the second they have your deposit hits home. I see the same thing with contractors, wedding vendors, even dog trainers. They put all their energy into the sales pitch, then the second you pay up you become just another name in a spreadsheet. The reviews are all from people who had a smooth run, so the service looks solid until something goes wrong and you find out there is no backup plan at all. It says a lot that the dispatcher who finally helped you was the one who told you the straight truth, even if it cost you extra. That is the sad part, honesty is so rare in these spots that it feels like a favor instead of the bare minimum.
