I hung parts by feel for 11 years, now I torque everything and here is why
For over a decade I cranked lug nuts and head bolts down by feel, figured I had a good arm and it never came back to bite me until a 2016 F-150 came in last March with a warped rotor and a caliper bolt I had over-tightened by probably 20 ft-lbs. Bought a $60 torque wrench after that and now I hit spec every single time, even on stuff that feels tight enough. Anyone else switch over later in their career, or am I the only one who was stubborn about it?
