A chat with a contractor about AI bidding tools made me pause

I was talking to a GC I've known for about 6 years at a job site off Braker Lane. He said he stopped using a popular AI estimating software because it kept missing local material price swings from the H-E-B distribution center buildout. That hit different because I'd been pushing my own crew to adopt the same tool, thinking faster bids meant more wins. Now I'm wondering if we're all chasing speed over actual accuracy in this market. Anyone else have a tool that looked great on paper but failed in real Austin conditions?
