Unpopular opinion: stacking 40 frames of Andromeda beat my single 4 hour shot, and it is not close
Last Saturday I drove out to a dark site near Flagstaff and spent 4 hours on one long exposure of Andromeda, and the core was blown out and the dust lanes looked like mush. A guy next to me shot 40 short 30 second frames and stacked them, and his photo showed way more detail than mine even though he only sat there for 20 minutes. Am I the only one who thinks this hobby pushes long single exposures way too hard when stacking is clearly the better call?
