Bought a $20 lens heater strip and it killed my astro photos forever
I spent months fighting with frost on my lens during winter shoots at Cherry Springs. Tried hand warmers taped to the barrel, but they fell off after an hour. Finally grabbed a cheap 12v heating band from Amazon and wrapped it around my 135mm f/2 manual lens. No more ruined subs, has anyone else found a random accessory that fixed a specific problem like that?

23 watt strips saved my images by melting frost off.

Double down on that battery management idea and get a voltage meter inline. I killed a whole night of narrowband once cause my battery dropped just low enough to corrupt the data but not low enough to kill the rig. That $12 multimeter saved my sanity and my data.

Power supply was the thing for me. Ran a dedicated 12v line from my car battery to the mount and never looked back. Those little USB power banks die fast in the cold. My whole rig stays on for 8+ hours now without worrying about dead batteries or voltage drops ruining my darks.
