What tipped you off that you were washing your hair all wrong?
I used to scrub my scalp with shampoo every single day until I noticed my roots were greasy by noon. My stylist asked if I was double conditioning and I realized I didn't even know what that meant. Anyone else have a simple routine they got backwards for years?

Yeah I have to push back on this one. You said your stylist asked if you were "double conditioning" like it was some obvious mistake. But honestly washing your hair every day works fine for a lot of people. Not everyone has the same hair type or scalp. My hair is super oily and if I skip a day I look like I dunked my head in bacon grease. Double conditioning would just make that worse for me. I think the whole "you're doing it wrong" thing is just a way for salons to sell more products and make people feel bad about their simple routines. If you shower daily and your hair looks good by noon that might just be your normal and not a problem at all.

Lol I feel personally attacked by this whole thread. Guess I'll just go back to my days of using dish soap and pretending it's fine 😂

Nah I had a buddy who swore by using bar soap on his hair for like two years. He thought the whole shampoo aisle was a scam. One day we're at a cookout and his girlfriend's friend asks if he uses a clarifying shampoo because his hair looked brittle and flaky. Dude had so much buildup it was literally flaking off like dandruff. He switched to actual shampoo and conditioner and his hair got way softer in like a week. He still won't admit he was wrong though.
