Was dead wrong about those cheap no name tools from the hardware store

Bought a $30 socket set from a random brand at Ace last month. Thought it would strip out on the first bolt. But I used it to swap out my car's alternator last weekend. 14 bolts total, some pretty tight. Didn't even wiggle. Figured the chrome was just cheap paint but it held up fine. Has anyone else had luck with those off brand tools?

Yeah I grabbed a Pittsburgh brand breaker bar last year figuring I'd snap it eventually. Thing's still holding up fine. Sometimes you get lucky.

Bought a cheap torque wrench once that sounded like a cat dying every time it clicked.

Huh, that's funny. I got a Pittsburgh torque wrench years ago expecting to hate it and it's still my go-to.
