My 7 year old nephew asked me why I tie my shoes the boring way and I could not give him an answer
So my sister dropped off my nephew Max on Saturday while she ran errands, and he sat on the floor watching me get ready to go to the gym. He hit me with what I figured was a random kid thing, asking why I do the bunny ear loop when he learned a faster way in kindergarten. I laughed it off at first, but he showed me his method twice, and honestly it was quicker than mine. I have been tying my shoes the same way since I was like 6, which is about 30 years of doing something one way because nobody ever showed me a different one. It bugged me the rest of the day, not the shoes so much but all the other stuff I probably do on autopilot just because that is how I learned it. I tried his way on my running shoes Sunday morning and got it on the first try, which felt a little dumb on my part. What is something you still do the old way just because that was how you were taught, and did anyone ever call you out on it?
