Debate: should you take customer feedback to heart or brush it off?

I had a lady in Phoenix tell me my hedge trimming looked 'too perfect' and that it made her yard look unnatural. She wanted me to leave some wild edges next time. Now I'm torn between sticking with clean cuts that I know look professional versus giving people what they actually ask for, even if it feels wrong. Has anyone else gotten criticism that made you rethink your whole approach?

Heard a podcast once where a chef was saying the same thing about people wanting their steak cooked wrong. Sometimes you just gotta give people what they want even if it hurts your soul a little. Clean edges look great but if she's paying she's the boss.

Used to roll my eyes at well-done orders but you're right, her money buys the steak.

@mary_west totally right, that podcast hit the nail on the head.
